FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, MINNA CENTRE FOR OPEN DISTANCE AND E-LEARNING (CODeL) DEPARTMENT PHYSICS PHYSICS/ELECTRONICS OPTION (CODel) CURRICULUM
PHILOSOPHY
Although nationally enrolment in physics is poor at all levels of education, however in the federal University of Technology Minna, we have unprecedented number of students offering the course due to its applied nature, This is nevertheless inadequate. The creation of CODel (Centre foe Distance, and e-learning) is envisioned to open more opportunities for prospective students to undertake training in Physics/electronics, reduce the overall cost of learning and to provide more opportunities for those that are disadvantaged as a result of their location to access the programme. The programme is also intended to make it flexible for both learners and lecturers alike in terms of registration and other formalities and to provide a lifelong opportunity for continues improvement and interaction.
VISION
To be a centre of excellence for teaching, training and research in Physics/Electronics nationally and internationally through utilization of e-learning platform.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the programme are to:
- Provide access to many prospective students to train in Physics/Electronics through the distance learning programme
- Make it flexible and interactive through the full deployment of e-resources together with other interactive techniques such as simulations to enhance learners understanding
- Increase the production and quality of Physics/Electronics is technicians for industry through adoption of appropriate pedagogical techniques and in consonance with distance and e-learning principles.
- Provide an platform for students interested in Physics/ electronics for whom the conventional situation is not convenient
